The important one is the Plex Media Server. You can do that here for OSX and here for Windows. Oh, and did we mention it’s free?įirst, you’ll need to download Plex. If you have media on either a Mac or a Windows computer (or both), we recommend Plex for its cross-platform compatibility, its clean and easily navigable interface and all the advanced connectivity features you can get. For instance, the PlayStation 3 doesn’t natively support playback of lossless FLAC files, but Plex will transcode them into other compatible formats on the fly.įor this particular tutorial, we used Plex. ![]() Plex and PS3 Media Server are two extremely popular packages that transcode file formats the PS3 doesn’t natively support. The latest version of Windows Media Player is generally the easiest option because it comes preinstalled with Windows, but a number of third-party applications also exist that offer better file compatibility and more advanced features. WINDOWS 7/Vista: Windows users have a number of useful options when it comes to serving media files from their PCs. This allows the PS3 to detect networked computers running Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) server software. Go into the PS3’s Settings menu and navigate to Network Settings – Media Server Connection, and select Enabled. This can be a lifesaver when you’re copying lots of files to your PS3 over a network. And if all your hardware supports it, switch to the 5GHz frequency band for a 60-100 percent speed bump and less interference. Adjust your router’s wireless settings to operate in 802.11n mode only. Extra Life: If your network consists exclusively of 802.11n-compatible hardware, bypass the PS3’s slower (802.11b/g) wireless connection by plugging it directly into your router or an extender (we used an Airport Express) via Ethernet cable. simply put, Michael was less than professional, did not show empathy with our issues and appeared to judge me based on my skin color. I have over 10 years in the hotel industry as a Director of Engineering and know what level of service to expect from this type of hotel. I pointed out that was for the first night when the union was protesting up and down by the pool disturbing my autistic son so much that we had to leave the pool area and return to our room. Michael noted that the hotel had already waved a meal charge for the union disturbance. when presented with my final bill I mentioned that the union protest woke us up that morning and really disturbed my autistic son. I was not greeted when I approached the front desk, he did not ask me how my stay was, and he did not smile. During my check out experience, a very frustrated looking Michael missed several points of service. Where this hotel falls short is the with Director of Front Office, Michael Samawi. love the firepits and the majority of the front desk staff was really on point. Service at the pool was awesome with live music during the day. This place has potential, great views, awesome live music and really tasty cocktails. DO NOT reserve a private cabana or pool chair, it's not needed, and it will be a mess if you try to cancel. So 29 days after my first call - it was finally handled. So after 4 weeks of trying, Resort Pass reached out on my behalf to HOTEL MANAGEMENT in order to get the booking cancelled. I reached out to them with my issue and they confirmed that Fuego would have to be the ones to cancel. I saw on the website that the bookings go through Resort Pass which is a fabulous app for booking day passes. I did this for 2 weeks with no returned calls. I called, left a message for the manager and never got a call back. I found out later from friends this wouldn't be necessary, so I followed the directions to cancel it, which is to reach out to Fuego Restaurant because they manage the bookings. Prior to our arrival, I booked a private cabana on Hotel Maya's website so that we would have a guaranteed spot at the pool. Ten stars! 4) My only "negative" really isn't about the hotel, it's about Fuego restaurant and bar. Just walk the property inside and out, there are probably 4-5 sitting areas with unique and beautiful decor, and outside there is the pool area, baordwalk, "beach" with firepits, Fuego terrace, multiple event spots, and the tranquil zen garden. The photos speak for themselves and the hotel has done a great job reprsenting themselves accurately, so I'm going to hit my favorite points: 1) The complimentary shuttle is priceless, they run within a pretty decent distance so if you want to go over the bridge for food or entertainment, it's a quick cheap ride (we would always Uber back, $10) 2) The pool area is amazing, was not crowded during our Wed - Sat stay, and the bar/wait staff were quick and great to talk to (say hi to Hector!!!) 3) There are so many beautiful and peaceful spots to sit and read or take a quick nap, and is a paradise for anyone looking for Insta or TikTok worthy spots. We were able to snag it for a great rate compared to neighboring hotels and were amazed at how many resort amenities there are. After seeing photos we were sold and love that it offers a resort atmosphere at half the price. ![]() Quite a few friends recommend this hotel based on having cruised out of Long Beach before. Hotel Maya hit all of those points and so many more. We were flying into LGB three days prior to our cruise and wanted somewhere that we could relax by the pool and enjoy drinks, take a quick ride share to entertainment/dinner, and still be close enough to the cruise port so that embarkation day wouldn't be a long ride. Organic plant-based drinks are not fortified at all.Įven with some fortification, plant-based drinks cannot mimic the natural matrix of nutrients in milk. If, along with your skim milk, you ate a piece of toast with butter, you would be able to absorb and use the calcium. Some other nutrients which are missing or at low levels in plant-based drinks compared with milk such as vitamin B12 may also be added.īut it is important to remember that there are large differences in fortification and some nutrients such as iodine, of which milk is an important source, are not routinely added. For instance, while cow’s milk is a good source of calcium, the calcium in skim milk is essentially wasted unless you add some other source of fat at the same time. Milk is naturally rich in calcium, plant-based drinks are not, although some plant-based drinks have calcium added. The absorption level of calcium carbonate and calcium phosphate mixture from milk was higher than control rats that were not fed with any milk. Again, in contrast to milk, the protein in most plant-based drinks is of lower quality. The calcium absorption level from milk reached an average of around 98.67☐.22. 01271 Cheese, mozzarella, low moisture, part-skim, shredded 86.0 1.0 cup 616 14058 Beverages, Whey protein powder isolate 86.0 3.0 scoop 600 01224 Protein supplement, milk based, Muscle Milk Light, powder 50.0 2.0 scoop 600 14083 Beverages, chocolate malt, powder, prepared with fat free milk 256.0 1. Most children in the United States grow up drinking cow’s milk unless they have an allergy or their family follows a plant-based diet.If you were raised after the 1970s, you might have drunk skim milk or low-fat milk due to the growing concerns about research that linked dietary fat and heart disease. using various concentrations of skim milk was deter-mined. Plant-based drinks vary in their composition but none are nutritionally the same as milk so can't just be swapped for milk. Furthermore, these probes may also have the potential to determine the ionic calcium content of undiluted skim milk. There are many plant-based drinks on the market manufactured from ingredients such as oats, soy, pea, hemp, rice and almonds. This study demonstrates that Fluo-5N and Rhod-5N can be used to determine the ionic-calcium content of diluted milk with front-face fluorescence spectroscopy. The fluorescence intensity of the probe-calcium adduct decreased with a decrease in pH for the same ionic calcium concentration. Higher than suggested ionic calcium contents of 1,207 and 1,973 microM were determined with the probes (Fluo-5N and Rhod-5N) in diluted skim milk with pH 7.0 and 6.2, respectively. The results demonstrated that the ionic calcium content of each sample was highly correlated (R2 > 0.989) with the fluorescence intensities of the probe-calcium adduct using simple linear regression. The ionic calcium content of each sample was also determined using a calcium ion-selective electrode. The pH of diluted skim milk (1.9 to 8.9% skim milk), was adjusted to either 6.2 or 7.0, after which the samples were analyzed with fluorescent probes (1 microM) and front-face fluorescence spectroscopy. Evidence Based Is Whole Milk Better Than Low Fat and Skim Milk Recent studies suggest that skim milk might not always be the best health-promoting choice. In this study, the effect of pH on calcium-sensitive fluorescent probe (Rhod-5N and Fluo-5N) performance using various concentrations of skim milk was determined. The goal of the current study was to develop foundation methods for future studies to determine ionic calcium directly in skim milk and other dairy products with molecular probes and fluorescence spectroscopy. ![]() Molecular probes designed specifically for measuring ionic calcium could potentially be used to determine the ionic calcium content of skim milk. Current methods for determining ionic calcium are not sensitive, overestimate ionic calcium, or require complex procedures. The purpose of this study was to determine if the ionic calcium content of skim milk could be determined using molecular probes and front-face fluorescence spectroscopy.
